The ABCs of Breastfeeding

breastfeeding abcsThe ABCs of Breastfeeding is a new book by Stacey Rubin, IBCLC.

Stacey has written a fantastic book - and I've read a lot of books on breastfeeding. Instead of the usual content about overcoming challenges, Stacey starts the book off with several chapters that encourages women to have a positive attitude about breastfeeding before their babies are born. Instead of listening to listening to horror stories from women whose experience with nursing was less than satisfying, Stacey suggests moms be confident and even practice positive visualization.

The book also outlines:

  • how to find a truly breastfeeding friendly physician
  • how to avoid common problems with a few simple steps
  • how to find breastfeeding allies
  • how formula manufacturers undermine a mother’s confidence and
  • how to get more sleep when you're nursing!

This book would be wonderful for any pregnant mom, or a mom whose previous breastfeeding experiences were unsatisfactory to her. I loved it. I think it's also a great baby shower gift too.
